Danny starred in EastEnders between 2013 and 2022

Danny, 45, appeared on The One Show alongside Ellie Taylor, 39, to talk about their new game show Cheat.

However host Alex Jones, 45, couldn’t help but touch upon Danny’s recent departure from the BBC programme.

Alex said: “You left EastEnders a year ago, and now we’re about to see this new drama that you’re in called Heat… what can you tell us about that?”

Danny replied: “I left EastEnders, it was a very emotional thing for me.

“I signed up to this other job, I literally left, packed a bag and flew to Australia.

“The reason I did it, it was a really good script and everything, but I wanted to work in the sunshine.”

Unfortunately it didn’t go his way.

He added: “And I got to Melbourne and it rained every single day.”

EastEnders fans were left in shock after Danny’s explosive exit from Albert Square back in December.

The actor bowed out on Christmas Day with a shock twist, leaving his exit a mystery.

The dramatic scenes showed him diving into the Chanel to save his beloved ex-wife Linda, played by Kellie Bright, with him not re-emerging from the water.

Danny played Mick Carter on the show between 2013 and 2022.
