FOLLOWING the success of Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions last summer, Simon Cowell has come up with a twist for the 2020 Christmas special.

Some of the show’s most successful acts will return for the one-off programme.

Diversity will front BGT’s Christmas special despite their BLM performance racking up 22,000 complaints

But instead of competing alone, they will join forces with one another in a bid to impress the studio audience.

A TV insider said: “Simon and his team didn’t want to simply do another Champions version so they came up with this twist.

Some of the biggest acts in BGT history will be coming back to perform with another act, whether it’s a singer, magician or even an animal act.

“The idea is that they will collaborate and create a unique, one-off performance for fans.

“There was talk about creating super-groups — for example, putting together the best dance acts and the best magic acts to compete against one another — but that’s out of the window.

“It’s going to be spectacular for fans as they’ll get to see some of the show’s best-ever acts working together for the first time.

“Top of the wish list at ITV are Diversity, Susan Boyle and magical Marc Spelmann. At the moment they hope to have a studio audience who will vote on their favourite acts.

“But with Covid guidelines changing so often, this is something that’s not been completely decided yet.

“Either way, it’s going to be something really special.”

Susan Boyle is expected to perform for the special episode

Last month we revealed that Simon was planning to return to the one-off special, having been forced to miss the finals after he broke his back in three places in a bike accident.

He is all set to join fellow judges Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden on the panel in a few weeks.

But if he decides it is too soon, Ashley Banjo is ready to take his place.

This one is definitely going to be worth tuning in to on Christmas Day.

Strictly Ranvir’s breaup

GOOD Morning Britain host Ranvir Singh has confirmed she has split from her husband, as she prepares to feature in the new Strictly series.

She opened up while admitting feeling guilty about being away from son Tushaan when working.

Ranvir said: “It’s hard being a working single parent. I struggle with guilt, with my son and not being there when he goes to school. We’re very attached because it’s just me and him.

“I get tearful and worry he’s going to hate me because I was never there. I’m hoping in a few years, when he goes to secondary school, I’ll be able to make more selective decisions about work.”

Last year on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, in a debate about checking partners’ phones, she hinted at finding something on husband Ranjeet’s – as co-host Ben Shephard asked: “Is that why you are no longer together?”

Ranvir said: “I can’t answer that but if you ever need to do that, the relationship is over.” She added: “I found something that needed addressing.”

Now, in a chat with Woman & Home magazine, she said: “I’ve been sleep-deprived for eight years. Six months after getting my job on GMB, I found it overwhelming. At the same time, I was in a car crash with Tushaan.

“It wasn’t serious but it was a wake-up call and made me realise the sleep situation had got the better of me.”

Tim becomes a fighter sp-ace

SPACEMAN Tim Peake knows all about spectacular take-offs – but even he can’t hide his delight as he takes to the skies in a Spitfire.

The British astronaut gets a ride in one of the World War Two fighters for a film to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. It will be shown on BBC1’s The One Show tomorrow night.

Tim also meets former fighter pilot Alan Frost, who recalls the fear of being in the thick of the 1940 battle for the skies against the Luftwaffe, which helped prevent the UK from being invaded by Hitler.

In the film, Alan gives Tim some tips on staying safe in the aircraft, including shutting

his cockpit door to make sure he doesn’t get sucked out during the flight.

After being in space, it must have seemed like a walk in the park.
