THE international action continues following a few cracking games over the last couple of days.
After tipping winners in Scotland and Wales’ games yesterday, attention turns to England’s trip to face Bulgaria in Sofia.
Bulgaria vs England – Monday, 7.45pm.
IT’S another tough tie for England following on from the shock 2-1 defeat to Czech Republic.
It’s eight years since they last visited Bulgaria, when the Three Lions returned to Blighty with all three Euro 2012 qualifying points after a 3-0 win.
That will do nicely for Southgate, who will have his young side well drilled and up for this one.
Bulgaria have proved to be the weakest side in the group and are winless at home after a draw with Montenegro and defeat to Kosovo.
They’ve scored in both of those games and do carry a decent goal-threat in the form of Botov midfielder Todor Nedelev.
But we see this being all one way traffic, just as it was when England dismantled the hosts 4-0 back at Wembley.
With England struggling in attack against the Czechs, the door could open for Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham to properly announce himself on the international stage.
We tipped him to score first at Southampton last weekend and he duly obliged, netting his first Premier League goal since an impressive hat-trick against Wolves.
With Harry Kane – and the entire Spurs contingent – out of sorts, the fearless young Chelsea striker can pick up the slack.
Wait for the team-sheet, but if Abraham stars make sure you back him to open his senior international account.
England will be at Euro 2020, that much is a given after this ruthless campaign.
And in qualifying, they don’t mess these games up any more. There will be goals – make sure you’re on.
England to win to nil: 8/13
Over 3.5 goals in Sofia: 29/20
Tammy Abraham to score first senior international goal: 5/6
