DANCING On Ice fans have slammed the show for an ‘insensitive’ moment amid the Nicola Bulley investigation.

It happened last night as Mollie Gallagher and Sylvain Longchambon performed to Ghostbusters.

Mollie and Sylvain’s performance was interrupted by a news bulletin
It turns out Lucrezia’s bulletin was all part of the act – but some viewers weren’t pleased

At the start of their routine, the show was interrupted by an ITV news bulletin which saw newsreader Lucrezia Millarini announce: “We interrupt this programme with news of a sudden rise in supernatural sightings. The cause of the outbreak is currently unknown but we’re assured experts have arrived to deal with the issue.”

After Lucrezia read the ‘news’, viewers were quickly taken back to Dancing On Ice to see Mollie and Sylvain starting their routine.

And it turns out the bulletin was all part of it, in a playful introduction to the routine, but some viewers found it disrespectful.

It was yesterday evening that it was revealed that a body has been found less than a mile from where Nicola disappeared.

The body was pulled from the River Wyre yesterday after a huge police presence swooped on the scene.

And DOI viewers thought the announcement was about Nicola, with one writing on social media: “That was a bit stupid #dancingonice. Having a newsflash at this moment in time. Thought it was about Nicola Bulley.”

Another added: “I thought that ITV news interruption was about Nicola Bulley.”

A third penned: “Not me getting scared that was a legit breaking news broadcast ffs,” and a fourth commented: “Bit insensitive of Dancing On Ice to do a ‘breaking news’ skit when there’s major events happening.”

Police say no formal identification has been carried out so are unable to confirm whether the remains belong to Nicola.

But they did confirm the death of the person found in the water is being treated as unexplained.

The force said in a statement: “We were called today at 11:36am to reports of a body in the River Wyre, close to Rawcliffe Road.

“An underwater search team and specialist officers have subsequently attended the scene, entered the water and have sadly recovered a body.

“No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time.

“Procedures to identify the body are on-going. We are currently treating the death as unexplained.”
