DANCING On Ice star has broken his silence over claims Nile Wilson has been over-marked.

The Olympic gymnast came under fire on social media, after fans of the show accused judges of over-marking him and his skating partner Olivia Smart.

Fans flocked to Twitter to say the judges were over-scoring the gymnast –  and threatened to switch off, saying other stars should have been scored higher.

Professional skater, Matt Evers has responded to the claims, explaining that the judges base the scores on the individual performance that week.

He told HOAR: “I’ve heard talk about Nile being ‘overmarked’.

“Well, there are always rumblings about who may be over-marked or under-marked – but as Christopher Dean said in a recent session with us, yes, it’s a competition, but the ice panel judge the individual performance that week.”

Professional Ice skating coach Daniel King disagrees with the scoring Nile has received, describing Nile’s recent performance as “disappointing”.

Daniel, who is a former two-time Scottish Champion and British Primary champion told Heart Bingo his thoughts, explaining: “The most disappointing performances for me came from Mollie and surprisingly Nile this week.

“Although you can see the improvements Mollie seemed to lack solo skating and character performance this week.

“As for Nile while it was fun to watch I believe his previous weeks were much stronger in both skating and performance, he is certainly able to achieve much more and for that reason I would have scored him more harshly.”

Fans of the show appeared to agree, with one writing on social media: “Why are they so unfair and biased towards Mollie and Nile?”

A second added: “Really disappointed in the unfair biases.”

A third chimed in, writing: “Not impressed by what appears to be favouritism.”

“Obviously the favourites of the judges are starting to show,” remarked another.

The Dancing On Ice judges have previously been accused of under-marking Nile, which also caused a stir on social media.

One fan wrote: “This has got to be rigged!! Nile was skating independently for most of it! He has clearly been the best tonight, what a fix.”

“Nile and Olivia were brilliant, they were under-marked again tonight,” added another.
