Sylvain cracked his chin on the ice and was rushed to hospital last week

The ITV show’s creative director Dan Whiston revealed whitnessed the accident that happened off air.

Dan told HOAR: “We’ve had lots of falls this week, with pro-skater Sylvain rushed to hospital after hitting his chin on the ice during rehearsals.

“He had his chin glued and luckily was back on the ice with Mollie Gallagher who put on a solid performance.”

The pair went on to impress the judges in musical week with and took home a score of 28.5 for an emotional routine to She Used To Be Mine from the musical Waitress.

Blackpool born Dan, who has been a feature on every series of Dancing on Ice since it began in 2006, revealed that wasn’t the only backstage emergency that threatened to derail the show.

The choreographer continued: “Just when we thought we couldn’t have any more dramas this week, we had a situation where the platform the musical cast stood on had to be screwed into the ice to stop it from sliding around.

“I absolutely loved choreographing such an exciting pro performance alongside our special guests from Tina the musical!”

And it’s not the first heartstopping accident to take place on the 2023 series.

Pop star Siva Kaneswaran passed out in a horror accident after cracking his head on the rink during training before Christmas.

The singer, 34, best known for being part of band The Wanted, is one of the famous faces taking part in this year’s series of the ITV competition.

Speaking to HOAR, Siva said: “Friday I just passed out.

“I had a serious fall and I hit the back of my head so I’ve been diagnosed with a mild concussion as of today (Wednesday 11th Jan).

“So it’s been difficult for me to get back on the ice and it can really shake your confidence especially when you’ve just cracked your head on the ice.”

He continued: “Luckily we have a medic next to the rink and so we had my blood pressure and blood taken and they checked my eyes, so it’s there, I’m still here, I’m OK, but pretty shook up.”

It comes as Patsy Palmer tumbled on Sunday but was saved from elimination in the skate-off.
