FORMER Dancing On Ice contestant Jake Quickenden has made a shock stand against the scoring system of the show after branding it “unfair”.

Jake, 34, who became a household name following his stint on X Factor in 2012, appeared on the show in 2018 alongside his professional skating partner, Vanessa Bauer.

And it seems he had a few choice words for this year’s Dancing On Ice judging panel, which includes Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

In his OK! magazine column, the father of one wrote: “I feel like the scoring has gone a bit all over the place. They usually start low. I know my year, I got a five in the first week and then I had something to improve on.”

He added: “When you’re giving people sevens and eights in the first week, that just looks a bit weird. People can’t improve very much on an eight and there’s rarely going to be tens across the board because nobody’s perfect. The scoring has been quite baffling.”

And he didn’t stop there as he continued: ” I just want it to be fair. When someone’s getting marked so highly and then another person is getting marked so lowly, then that can influence the public not to vote.”

And while Ekin-Su’s departure from the show sparked debate, Jake appears convinced that he knows the reason why.

He said: “What I think did kind of go against her is that she kept changing her style. She came out the first week like Britney Spears in that bodysuit and she got a bit of flack for that, with people saying it was too sexual.”

He then added: “Then she totally changed the week [after] and then the week after that [was] very different with the Sound of Music outfit, and then this week was a little bit different again.”

He continued: “I just think viewers maybe thought, ‘we don’t really know what’s going on with her’ and it distracted from her growth.”
