The Steps singer found himself in the bottom two alongside magician Ben Hanlin but the judges decided to send him home.

All of the judges opted to save Ben from the axe and saying goodbye H thanked ITV for having him on the show in a same sex pair and added: “Strictly, it’s your turn now.”

The BBC show has long been under fire for its refusal to feature same sex dancers.

Back on Dancing Coronation Street’s Lisa George looked on in disbelief as she was put through earlier in the show, with Libby and Mark following shortly after.

Unsurprisingly Perri Kiely and partner Mellisa were also sent through after achievingthe highest scoreof the series.

The final celebrity confirmed as being safe was Maura Higgins after her death-defying headbanging routine with partner Alexander.

Viewers were horrified by the headbanger and couldn’t bring themselves to watch it live after the former Love Island star was injured during rehearsals.

One wrote: “When anyone attempts the headbanger I cant watch, I just have visions of their head cracking and blood spilling everywhere #DancingOnIce”

The judges gave Maura a score of 30.5 for the routine that ended with the headbanger – her highest score in the competition.
