LOVE Island’s Maura Higgins broke down in tears as she was eliminated from Dancing On Ice this evening.
The Irish beauty, 29, admitted that she desperately wanted to stay after landing in the skate off against paralympian Libby Clegg.
While judges Jordan Banjo and John Barrowman voted to save the reality star, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean both sent Maura home.
Christopher was head judge tonight and so had the deciding vote.
He explained: “Maura, your performance tonight was really strong, Libby you were consistent and strong as usual.
“So I am saving who I believe is the strongest skater.

Maura was clearly emotional as she learned of her fate, and was unable to speak to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
Immediately welling up, she said: “I really did want to stay” before burying her face in professional partner Alexander Demetriou’s chest.
He told the presenters: “This girl is one of the greatest women I’ve ever met.”
Earlier in the evening, Maura expressed her disappointment at her scores as she admitted that she was determined to get better.

Maura and Alexander’s elimination comes just hours after The Sun revealed that Alex’s wife Carlotta, who is also a pro on the show, is jealous of their relationship.
A source told us: “Carlotta has been talking backstage about how she doesnt trustMauraor her motives for a second.
“She says shes not a girls girl and has made no effort with her, and shes worried she has turned her husbands head.”
The source said Carlotta has been complaining to other pro dancers she is sick ofAlexfollowing Maura.
The reality star shot to fame on last summer’s series of Love Island, and she is still with her partner from the show, Curtis Pritchard.
