Ant and Dec revealed the result of the public vote at the end of Friday’s episode.
Newsreader Charlene was booted off after quitting her Bushtucker trial earlier in the episode.
She said: “It was emotional. To use that ridiculous American phrase, It has been a journey, and I’ve absolutely loved living with those guys.
“Every single one of those guys have been great.”
On sharing the jungle with Matt Hancock, the ITV broadcaster said: “I was surprised but not surprised, I may well be in the jingle but journalism is my first job.
“I wanted to ask questions that people on the outside had. We had to live alongside him and adapt to that. He’s made some connections in there which is wonderful.”
Viewers reacted to the elination on Twitter, and one said: “I thought Charlene was amazing.”
Mike Tindall earlier delivered the news that the public had been voting all night for their favourite celebs to stay on the show.
He read the news from a laminate note and said: “Celebrities, tonight is your last night together. Tomorrow one of you will be the first to leave the jungle.”
Each campmate then stood up and delivered an emotional tribute to their time in the camp together, before heading to bed.
Ant and Dec entered the jungle camp in the morning, and in live scenes they told the stars who was safe.
Mike, Scarlette, Seann, Babtunde, Jill, Owen and Chris were then told they were safe.
George and Matt were also revealed to be safe.
