EXTRA Camp’s Adam Thomas has poked fun at himself after the show was axed following his stint as a presenter.

The 31-year-old star hosted last year’s series alongside Emily Atack and Joel Dommett – and he couldn’t resist making a cheeky jibe at his own expense after ITV called time on the programme after 17 years.

Adam Thomas blamed his brief involvement in the show for its axing

Taking to Instagram, Adam shared a photo of himself and his co-stars on set as he admitted that he would have loved to have been involved in more than one series in the post’s lengthy caption.

The actor wrote: “Ok so this isnt awkward … imagine your first ever presenting role on a show thats been running for years… you do one show and it gets cancelled!!

“You cant write it, haha! Aww, not gonna lie, wish I could have had another go at it… But thats life!

“What a job, what an experience – at least I can tell my kids I was once a presenter!

Adam joked that he is now available for panto

“Thank you to all the team @itv2 , was an absolute pleasure getting to know and work with each and every single one of you ! Until we meet again x”.

Adam then added one last self-deprecating joke, quipping: “P.S. I am not free for panto… I’d say call my agent but I don’t have one so please DM me.

“Haha, great start to 2020!”

Emily found the entire thing hilarious, taking to her Instagram Story to share her own response to the news as she laughed at Adam’s reaction.

Emily reacted to the news – and Adam’s post – in a video

After thanking fans for their support, admitting that it’d been axed for reasons outside of the hosts’ control, Emily giggled as she added: “Adam Thomas is blaming himself, which is making me p*** myself.

“It’s not you, Adam!”

She then quipped: “It’s probably me…”

Earlier this evening, HOAR Online revealed that I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’s spin-off ITV2 programme will not be returning this year.

Extra Camp will not be returning this year

It had run since the jungle reality show began in 2002, but bosses decided the companion show, previously called Im a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! NOW!, had become too expensive.

It was shown at 10.30pm just outside the channels prime time schedule, which is about to get a big push.

An ITV source said: “ITV have been discussing the future of Extra Camp for some time and its not a decision theyve taken lightly as they are very fond of it.

“But bosses are focusing on growing ITV2s prime-time offering on the channel and Extra Camp, sadly, isnt a part of that.

Joel confirmed HOAR Online’s story

“The show is quite expensive to make and, in the current climate, theyve had to make a tough commercial decision.”

Joel confirmed HOARs story this evening and said in a statement on Instagram: “The time has unfortunately come to put Extra Camp to bed in its uncomfortable hammock.

“The show will no longer continue. Its been a huge privilege to be a part a show with such a rich history filled with amazing hosts. The producers have assured me that @emilyatackofficial @adamthomas21and myself are not to blame.

“They said the show was better than ever and also that Joel is the sexiest presenter we have ever had (I wasnt listening but it was something like that) – it is simply because its expensive given how late its on and the funds will be used in more prime time slots.

“Ive told them that Adam will do it for free but the decision is made. Thank you to all the crew who have made this the most wonderful 3 years, you have shaped me as a person and presenter. Ive learnt so much.

“Thank you to everyone for watching.”

Since the ninth series in 2009, Extra Camp has mostly been filmed live in Australia, with only the occasional celebrity interviews shown from London.

The show has had 17 presenters since it first aired.

The spin-off has had 17 presenters over the years – including Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash

Previous hosts have included tragic It Girl Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, Emma Willis, ex-Love Island presenter Caroline Flack and her replacement on the dating show Laura Whitmore.

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have also fronted it.

An ITV insider added: “ITV2 has loved having Im A Celebrity: Extra Camp on the channel and its really sad the show is ending.

“All the presenters over the years have been fantastic, along with the brilliant, hard-working production crew.”
