I’M A Celebrity bosses are taking inspiration from Netflix’s Squid Games for one of the show’s most gruelling tasks.
The celebrities will be kitted out in red jumpsuits with their voting number printed on the pocket to imitate those seen in the hit South Korean survival drama television series.
However the ITV series is understood to have not been granted permission from Netflix to copy the outfits that the celebrities, who include politician Matt Hancock and Love Island’s Olivia Attwood, will be made to wear.
An instruction for the wardrobe department, seen by HOAR, reads: “Squid Game style tracksuits with some key differences (we don’t have permission from Netflix to do this Trial so it needs to be as ‘parody’ as possible.
“Tracksuit tops with two digit voting number where the top left pocket would usually be as well as at the back of the collar (behind the neck).
“Be nice if we can achieve the white accent on the shoulders too. Celebs can wear normal camp t-shirt underneath tracksuit tops.
“Just tracksuit bottoms but again be nice if we could achieve te white accent that runs down the sides of the tracksuits.”
The task will be part of 24 gruesome trials across the 21 shows during the ITV series which kicks off on Sunday, November 6.
Squid Game stunned the world last year with its depiction of a bloody contest where competitors were killed as they tried to win a jackpot payout.
Just 24 hours after its release, the South Korean drama became the world’s most-watched television show on Netflix – topping the ratings list in over 80 countries.
Meanwhile a new luxurious sleeping quarter has been added to the camp in the form of a retro campervan fitted with huge beds and thick mattresses.
The new sleeping arrangements also feature a bunk bed for the first time on the show with the hope it will lead to a “bromance” between two celebrities.
However the contestants are set to have a gruesome surprise in the Bushtucker Trials with producers introducing camel testicles for the celebrities to eat in order to win stars for camp.
Elsewhere, the camp also features a tandem bike which has replaced the seesaw for the celebrities to ride and pump water into a bath.
Meanwhile the treehouse has been given a roof for “added protection” after ITV bosses were forced to close the camp last week as torrential rain and floods hit the area.
