I’M A Celebrity fans say they know why angry campmates won’t quit the ITV show over Matt Hancock’s arrival.

The disgraced cheat was forced to quit as Health Secretary last year for breaking Covid rules with aide Gina Coladangelo.

Grinning Matt Hancock has taken over I’m A Celeb and campmates fear he’ll get all the airtime – but viewers say the stars won’t quit

He entered the jungle on Wednesday with comedian Seann Walsh, leaving the likes of Boy George, Sue Cleaver, Chris Moyles and Scarlette Douglas devastated.

A source on the ITV show said there had been “pretty hostile” moments and some big names had discussed potentially quitting.

But any are yet to walk, and viewers think they’ve figured out why.

One said on Twitter: “Walk out and not get paid by ITV. They won’t do that as they want the money/exposure the show gives them.”

Another said: “Money talks and they won’t do that cos if they do they don’t get paid.”

And a third said: “They won’t. Money and exposure.”

Matt, 44, said about his affair on last night’s episode: “I messed up and I ’fessed up. I resigned and it’s no excuse but I fell in love, right?

“That also had a lot of other consequences, obviously.”

It comes as the celebrities also fear the programme will become “the Matt show” as angry viewers vote to subject him to Bushtucker Trials.

A camp worker told HOAR that crew members have been fascinated to see Corrie star Sue Cleaver, 59, who is also a trained psychotherapist, use those skills to try to help the others work through their emotions.

The source said: “There’s been talk about it becoming the Matt show. Obviously, they all want a fair share of airtime.

“Then we’ve seen Sue who is clearly very p****d off but basically putting on her therapist hat to try and ease tension. In some ways it’s been fascinating to watch.”

He continued to face the wrath of the public with his latest Bushtucker Trial, Tentacles of Terror.

It saw him submerged in water in a giant octopus-shaped cage — which hosts Ant and Dec said would be home to various critters.

When Matt said he was concerned about snakes, Ant said: “You must have met a few snakes in your time in Westminster.”
