Boy George says the fermented plums taste like ‘perfume’

In a preview clip of the La Cucaracha Cafe trial, that will air tonight, I’m A Celeb host Ant says: “George this is yours.

“Veggie, fermented plums. You’ve got to eat six …”

Brave George dives straight and says the plums taste like “perfume” as Ant commentates.

He says: “Oh, he’s popping them in. One, two, he’s not hanging around. Four!”

Dec interupts: “Hold on, something is stopping him in his tracks…”

Boy George begins to heave before muttering, “it’s really disgusting. And I can eat anything.”

Hosts Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin revealed the former health secretary, 44, and singer-songwriter Boy George, 61, will take on the first eating challenge of this series on Friday night.

The Geordie duo said both would be eat at La Cucaracha Cafe, which means the Cockroach cafe in Spanish.

The Culture Club singer and former Health Secretary will have to put their differences aside to overcome a challenge described by Ant and Dec as “spicy, dicey and definitely not nicey.”

This comes after the two I’m a Celebrity cast members clashed earlier this week, with Boy George sensationally threatening to quit the show.

Speaking to campmate Scarlette Douglas, the pop icon said: “You know, beginning of the pandemic my mum was in hospital. I wasn’t allowed to see her. I thought she was going to die. I was tweeting Greenwich hospital going, ‘Please look after my mum.’ I used my name, I was like ‘Please look after my mum.’

“It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I wouldn’t be here now. I would have gone when he walked in.”
