I’m A Celeb’s Vernon Kay got a nod from his wife Tess Daly on Strictly Come Dancing last night.

The 46-year-old TV presenter has been sharing sweet insights into his life with Tess, 51, and their two daughters while on the ITV reality show.

And after telling the sweet story of his romantic Christmas Day proposal around the campfire, Tess returned the favour and referenced her husband “being away”.

Her co-host Claudia Winkleman said: “Still to come, JJ visits the beautiful Scottish Highlands.

“I am taking you there for our honeymoon Tess.”

Tess joked: “Vernon’s away, I’m in!”

Last night’s show – which featured unseen footage from across the week – saw Vernon and his fellow celebs discussed their happiest moments.

Vernon said: “I think it was when I proposed to Tess. On Christmas Day it was, it was the last present under the tree.

“While she was so consumed by the ring, I was on one knee. She was like that [pulls shocked face]. It was awesome.”

Vernon added in the Telegraph: “When she opened it up, her face just lit up.”

The couple married in Bolton, Lancashire in September 2003 and have two daughters, Phoebe, 16, and Amber, 11.

On Friday’s show, Vernon was seen recalling how he used to wear a suit and dance with his little girl while watching Tess host Strictly Come Dancing.

And the romantic star also delighted his camp mates and viewers when he previously revealed all about how he surprised Tess with a marriage vow renewal a few years ago.

Vernon secretly arranged everything about the event as well as getting Tess four potential wedding dresses for her to wear.

He said: “I booked a weekend in our favourite hotel in the South of France and I spoke to her (Tess’) stylist at the time and I said I needed four dresses.”

He added: “She didn’t know anything. I gave her a card and it said congratulations on your second wedding day and I said we’re going to renew our vows.  

“She said ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’ and I said ‘you say that…pick one’.” 

Vernon continued: “We went to reception and her Mum, my parents, the kids and my brother were waiting and she was like ‘oh my god’ – we had such a lovely day.”
