CHARLENE White shouted “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here” during her first Bushtucker Trial of the series.

The ITV newsreader, 42, was voted for by the public to take on the Watery Grave challenge alongside singer Boy George, 61, which saw the pair locked in tanks while battling to win stars for camp.

But Charlene could not take it after baby crocodiles were added to the tank which led her to shouting the famous line.

A TV insider said: “Charlene proved she was made of tough stuff when she conquered the terrifying plank trial at the start of the series.

“But it seemed the producers found her worst fear when the reptiles were added to the tank.

“Charlene was clearly disappointed as it was her first trial voted for by the public and it also meant that her fellow campmates went hungry again.”

During the trial, the Loose Women presenter was tasked with using a magnet to feed the stars through a maze to the Culture Club singer in the other tank.

However the pair were not alone in the tanks, and as the water started to rise, reptiles and other water creatures were added.

At one point, Charlene could be seen climbing up the ladder to avoid coming into contact with the slippery visitors.

It comes as Charlene is the bookies’ favourite to be the first celebrity to be booted off the ITV show with odds of 100/1 to be crowned the winner, according to Ladbrokes.

The first elimination will play out tonight after viewers were tasked with voting for who they want to stay Down Under.

Charlene ruffled feathers in the camp when she refused to sleep in the RV with politician Matt Hancock, 44, which meant there was one less bed for her fellow celebrities to sleep on.

The journalist was elected deputy camp leader by the under-fire West Suffolk MP but refused to sleep in the duvet-clad bed after spotting a spider lurking inside the vehicle.

However it caused backlash among fans as Owen Warner, 23, was forced to sleep in a hammock, or on the ground, to make space for Charlene back in the jungle.

Meanwhile many speculated that the Loose Women star didn’t want to share with the former health secretary after she grilled him on his affair with Gina Coladangelo during the pandemic.
