A GIANT lizard more than two metres long invaded the Im A Celebrity camp while the celebrities were taking part in a live trial.
A massive Goanna, with razor sharp claws and teeth, stumbled upon the shows set at the weekend.
The animal, related to komodo dragons, looks like a crocodile and has a bite that is potentially fatal to humans.
Thankfully for show bosses, the celebrities were off-site taking part in the Love Island themed live trial.
Medic Bob, the shows long-serving doctor, revealed: “There was a big Goanna in camp the other day when they were all out at a trial, a big monitor lizard that looks like a crocodile but its related to komodo dragons.
“Theres a lot of them in that area. He came round and sniffed around all their bags and food and we just watched him wander through.”
“Theyve got really big claws, saw-like teeth and bacteria in their mouth. Thats why the komodo dragon is so dangerous.
“If you get bitten by a komodo youll die unless you get medical help, if you just get a bite.
“If you get bitten by a goanna in this country, youll need a tetanus shot and antibiotics but you could die.”
The giant reptile, which can grow up to three metres in some parts of Australia, get access to the camp using the bridges built to transport crew and celebrities in and out of the site.
Bob added: “They now know where the bridges are so they take shortcuts.
“Theyll be lying on the bridge and Ill get a call and they wont move.
“They like to use their tail to whip. They can literally take the skin off you with their tail. Theyre quite prehistoric.”
