Newsreader Charlene, 42, was booted off after quitting her Bushtucker trial earlier in the episode.

Following her I’m A Celebrity exit, the stars of Loose Women took to social media to praise Charlene and the work she did on the show.

“Nooo, not Charlene White! She was absolutely amazing in there,” said Frankie Bridge on Instagram.

“Aww, just seen Charlene White is leaving. You did yourself proud, you can get home and squeeze those babies!” said Nadia Sawalha.

Kaye Adams went on: “Charlene White you should feel very proud of what you achieved. Never easy being the first out… I should know! Can’t wait to have you back in the studio and reunited with your babies!”

“Charlene missed her babies. She stuck to her principles,” said Denise Welch on Twitter. “People have very short memories regarding Hancock. I’m very proud of my friends Charlene and Sue.”

Her exit came after Charlene failed to do well in the Bushtucker trial last night.

Meanwhile, speaking during her eviction interview, Charlene said: “It was emotional. To use that ridiculous American phrase, It has been a journey, and I’ve absolutely loved living with those guys.

“Every single one of those guys have been great.”

On sharing the jungle with disgraced MP Matt Hancock, the ITV broadcaster said she wanted to remain impartial and commented: “Well I think my money was on him or Liz Truss in terms of which one you guys were going to convince to come on.

“I was surprised but not surprised, I may well be in the jungle but journalism is my first job.”

She sipped on her glass of champagne and added: “I wanted to ask questions that people on the outside had.

“We had to live alongside him and adapt to that. He’s made some connections in there which is wonderful.”

Charlene also addressed the controversy around sleeping arrangements in the camp, after she refused to sleep in the RV with Matt.

The mum-of-two added: “I just think it would be really difficult to do the job that I will continue doing after I leave here once I have spent the night with a politician. Not in that way!”

Viewers reacted to the elimination on Twitter, and one penned: “I thought Charlene was amazing.”

Another fan wrote after Charlene spent 14 days in the jungle: “I like charlene sorry to see her go and disappointed!”

Mike Tindall earlier delivered the news that the public had been voting all night for their favourite celebs to stay on the show.

The ex rugby star read the news from a laminate note and said: “Celebrities, tonight is your last night together. Tomorrow one of you will be the first to leave the jungle.”

Each campmate then stood up and delivered an emotional tribute to their time in the camp together, before heading to bed.

Ant and Dec entered the jungle camp early in the morning, and in live scenes they told the stars who had been saved.

Mike, Scarlette Douglas, Seann Walsh, Babtunde Aleshe, Jill Scott, Owen Waner and Chris Moyles breathed a sigh of relief as they learned they’d survived.

Boy George and Matt Hancock were also saved – after their row earlier in the episode.

Ant told them Charlene and Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver were at risk, before revealing the Loose Women host was given the boot.
