They wrote: “We cant believe you are gone. We only spoke and messaged this week.

“As I write this you were supposed to be here with Ruby and us today.

“Your care and concern for Ruby was always forefront in your mind despite going through the worst time of your life and being so so fragile.

“Your messages and calls were full of love and gratitude. Words cant describe how devastated we are feeling.

“Caroline we will always be here for Ruby and continue to look after her, always. She is such a special dog.

“Just as we talked about… Ruby is different to other pups and is also so so special. We have shared your favourite picture of her.”

They revealed the 40-year-old had even sent the company a picture of the pup the day before she tragically took her own life.

Ex-Strictly winner Caroline died at her new flat in East London, where her body was discovered yesterday morning.

‘WE WILL ALWAYS BE HERE FOR RUBY’

She shared a haunting last Instagram post showing her kissing Ruby just hours before her death.

The 40-year-old shared a montage of pictures with the pet bulldog on Thursday evening captioned with a love heart.

Carolines family parents Christine and Ian, brother Paul and sisters Elizabeth and Jody confirmed her death yesterday.

They said: We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.

Police and paramedics rushed to Carolines flat yesterday, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her death is being treated as non-suspicious, with a post-mortem scheduled and an inquest set to open this week.

It comes less than three weeks before she was due to face trial on charges of assault by beating.

Sources have previously told The Sun on Sunday thatCaroline hoped the case would not go ahead because Lewis had stood by her and did not want to press charges.

Caroline was said to have been determined to prove her innocence when the case eventually went to crown court, scheduled for March 4.

But she was also tormented by strict bail conditions which prevented her from contacting Lewis until after the trial.

Her boyfriend, Lewis, and her management have slammed the CPS for banning the pair from being in touch.

They said: “In recent months Caroline had been under huge pressure because of an ongoing case and potential trial which has been well reported.

“The Crown Prosecution Service pursued this when they knew not only how very vulnerable Caroline was but also that the alleged victim did not support the prosecution and had disputed the CPS version of events.

“The CPS should look at themselves today and how they pursued a show trial that was not only without merit but not in the public interest.”

Today her friend Laura Whitmore tearfully described her “struggles” as she paid tribute to the “vivacious” star on BBC Radio 5.

The presenter, who took over from Caroline for Love Island’s winter edition, told listeners to “be kind” after her suicide.

In 2011, Caroline presented The Xtra Factor with Olly Murs and later Matt Richardson before later hosting the main show in 2015 to replace Dermot O’Leary.

After he returned to the show, Caroline took on her biggest role as presenter of Love Island the same year.

Along with as hosting Love Island’s weekly spin-off show Aftersun, she hosted all five series of the popular programme – one of the most-watched reality shows in the UK since it launched in 2015.
