Following her tragic death, it was adopted by fans to encourage people to be nicer to one another.

The Love Island host is much missed

More than 200 people attended a private funeral for Caroline near her family home in Norfolk last March.

At the time, her mum Christine said: “There were lots of memories, smiles but mostly tears as we all remembered Carrie and the joy she had brought to all of our lives.”

She thanked Caroline’s “old pals” from her impressive list of famous shows — I’m A Celeb, Xtra Factor, Strictly, Bake Off and Love Island, which she hosted for five years.

Last week Caroline’s friend Kristina Rihanoff shared her regret over not contacting her in the months before she died.

The Russian dancer, 43, shared: “I should have reached out…I feel such guilt.

“During Strictly she had a lot of difficulties, coming out of a relationship and so on.

“She had a few wobbles on the tour and didn’t want to perform, so we knew there were a lot of things going on with her emotional state.

“But she said then, ‘I’m in a better place, I’m focusing on new things’ and I was saying to her, ‘I really am happy for you.’”

Kristina said she has since cherished a photo of the pair together in Los Angeles, after they became close when Caroline won Strictly in 2014.

Looking back, the dancer admitted she has been berating herself and wishes she had done more to help her friend.

She told the Mirror: “Maybe it wouldn’t make a difference, but looking back I think maybe I should have reached out and I felt really sad about it. “
