DANCING On Ice bosses kept Maura Higgins and Carlotta Edwards apart during Sunday night’s final — over fears of a big backstage bust-up.
Tensions between the pair have been simmering after Love Island’s Maura, 26, grew close to Carlotta’s husband Alexander Demetriou — Maura’s pro skating partner.

Insiders told how Alexander, 28, and Carlotta’s four-year-marriage was on the rocks, with ITV producers bringing in measures to stop any clashes during the final.
A show source said: “It’s a small set up at the studio but producers went out of their way to stop Maura and Carlotta coming into contact.
“Dancing On Ice is a family show and the last thing they wanted was a cat fight.”
Neither of the women were finalists, so they only had group rehearsals together.

Our source said: “Backstage they were kept apart, with Maura being taken under pro skater Matt Evers’s wing.
“Even the make-up department were briefed to work on them at different times.”
Alex was seen without his wedding ring during the final when he put his hand on Maura’s shoulder.
He was last pictured wearing it on the show on January 26.
Last week The Sun told how Maura had split with her boyfriend Curtis Pritchard over her friendship with Alex.
