LOVE Island fans were left cringing tonight Sophie and Connor came face to face for the first time since she failed to leave the villa with him.

The pair awkwardly kissed on the cheek as they were reunited a week after the coffee bean salesman took a swipe at Sophie for staying in the villa when he got the boot.

They giggled their way through the interview with Laura and were touchy feely but fans of the show weren’t convinced.

“That was so cringe!” one fan tweeted.

“Other than the obvious something is very off about Sophie and teeth,” another added

But the pair seem determined to stay together, and Sophie asked him: “Are you gonna take me on a date?”
“I am,” he answered, but revealed he still doesn’t have her phone number.

Connor and Sophie will come face to face on tonight’s Aftersun

Sophie stayed on the dating show and said she was open to get to know new Islanders – even enjoying dates with Wallace and Luke M.

Earlier today, Connor revealed that he’s excited to see her and posted on Instagram: “Proud of “sophpiper_ and can’t wait to see her.”

When quizzed by Laura Whitmore on AfterSun last week if he thought she would walk when he left, he admitted: Yeah I did have a gut instinct that Sophie would stay.

Connor said he can’t wait to see Sophie

He continued: “But I hope in a weeks time if she has no connection with anyone that she does leave. I will be waiting for her.

He added: But I understand because its such a cool experience in that villa.

Sophie refused to leave the villa with Connor

Her mood lifted when she got a text to go on a date with Wallace

However he didn’t seem to convinced he will be with Sophie again as he later admitted: I will wait for Sophie and see how things pan out but I dont expect her to wait around really.

Discussing his shock exit, he said: “It’s took time to process but Im happy with how I left and I’m leaving on a good note. As sad as it is.

“It was horrible but at the same time I had it in my head that whatever was going to happen I was going home.”

The 25-year-old also admitted that watching Sophie in the villa was “hard” but that he is choosing to remain positive.

Connor had been slammed by fans for his controlling behaviour in Love Island

Connor previously acknowledged that Sophie’s “head could be turned” but that he wanted her to “enjoy the experience”.

“Its a once in a lifetime thing. I wouldnt have any grudges against her. I do just want her to be happy,” he said, adding that he will be waiting for Sophie on the outside: “Im in no rush to meet someone else.”

He said he will wait for Sophie on the outside

Essex native Connor had been unable to hide his jealousy during his time in the villa, and lashed out at Sophie for her passing comments about the hot new bombshells.

Just days later, he erupted again when Sophie goaded him over another two bombshells and joked they were her type on paper.

He then came under fire from Love Island fans who claimed he was “controlling”.

The comparisons came in full force during the truth game – with producers cutting to Connor glaring at welsh model Connagh and Sophie Piper every time they answered a question.
