LOVE Island policeman Mike Boateng revealed he has “saved a lot of relationships” during domestic call-outs with the police.

The hunky copper, 24, said his job as a first responder for Manchester police was “basically like marriage counselling”.

Mike has experience with other people’s relationship troubles

A skill that will probably be useful when he enters the Winter Love Island villa on Sunday.

“I’ll go in and they’ve been married for 25 years and be there like, ‘you shouldn’t be doing that, you should show her more respect, look at the kids’.

“It’s literally just managing people,” he told the MailOnline.

He added that in the conflicts in the villa, he will “be neutral” and “definitely won’t pick sides” in order to get along with everyone.

But it’s not just heated relationship dramas that he’s used to as he was one of the brave people in uniform called to deal with the Manchester Arena terror bombing in May 2017.

He told The Sun about his time dealing with the attack: “I wasn’t actually first responder, but I did work the days after that so I dealt with the aftermath. It was horrible.

“It was more patrolling the areas, making sure make sure everyone’s alright. People had a lot of questions around that time.

“Obviously, people felt unsafe as well naturally. So it’s kind of just being a presence, just in and around town, especially around that area, just to be a presence.”

Mike had to resign from the force in order to appear on the show, but the top dog says he’s allowed back in – as long as he behaves himself.

He said: “I did resign to come on the show. But luckily I spoke with the chief Ian Hopkins and thank God we’ve got a good relationship. So he has left the door open for me to come back if I do want to come back.”

Asked if he was told what he could and couldnt do, he joked: “The general consensus: Don’t do anything stupid. Don’t have a domestic.”
