Another fan believes: “The money bit at the end is kinda pointless might as well just ditch this part and share the prize going forward.”

A third follower added: “This keep/split twist isnt even a twist LOL so pointless whos gonna keep all the money and be called a snake by the nation pls.”

Whilst a fourth follower stated: “The whole split/steal love/money thing on #LoveIsland is the most pointless thing i’ve ever seen on television.”

After their incredible win, the pair were handed an envelope each, with one containing the 50,000 prize and nothing in the other.

The singer received the envelope with the money, meaning she would have the choice to keep all the money for herself or share it with her boyfriend and as expected, the Scotswoman decided to share the money with Finn.

Since the show started in 2015, no winner has received the envelope with the 50,000 and decided to keep it all to themselves.

Kem Cetinay, who chuckled when he received the envelope with 50,000 in 2017, still decided to share the money with Amber Davies.

Paige and Finn were very excited to be crowned winners of Love Island

During the final, a touching eulogy to the late Caroline Flack, who hosted the programme from 2015 until last summer, was aired.

Tearful hostLaura Whitmoreintroduced the tribute, saying: “The past week has been extremely difficult, coming to terms with the loss of our friend and colleague, Caroline.

“We’re thinking of her family and everyone who knew her at this time.

“Caroline loved Love Island, she loved love and that’s why tonight’s final is dedicated to her.”

The final episode of this series of Love Island saw the finalists get glammed up for the “Love Island prom”, where they couples would exchange declarations of love.

The winning pair of Paige and Finn left fans in tears as he broke down midway through his speech.

The remaining islanders also learnt how to dance the Tango, which they all performed with varying levels of success.

With their win, Paige and Finn have become the sixth couple to win the popular ITV2 show since it began in 2015 and the first to win the winter version of the show.
