The Love Island star, 27, has spoken out for the first time about the split on Vicky Pattison’s podcast, The Secret To.

After touching on how they have coped during lockdown, the ex Geordie Shore star prompted Chris to open up about his relationship coming to an end with the singer.

Chris admitted: “It was tough,” before adding “and time’s a healer, you don’t believe it when you’re in the moment.”

The reality favourite went on to explain that he’s never actually been heartbroken before – but it didn’t take him long to get over the sad split.

He added: “I don’t think I’ve ever felt heartbroken or anything. And then a couple of weeks down the line, you start thinking about it less and less. And the next thing, you’re good as gold.”

The 27-year-old said his manager was by his side the whole time and speaking to people about how he felt sped up the process of trying to get over his old beau.

Chris said: “It’s good to talk to people like that, you’re the same as well, life experience.

“People get it and it reflects on you and next minute you feel right as rain.”

The pair started dating in January 2019

Rumours that the pair had started dating circulated just two months after Jesy split up with her former flame Harry James in November 2018.

The two were first spotted on a date on January 16, 2019, which was shortly followed by a night at the Harry Potter themed bar The Cauldron, London.

After a slight wobble in February 2019, Jesy and Chris’ relationship went from strength to strength.

The pair proudly displayed their loved-up relationship all over their social media and Chris even managed to star in Little Mix’s music video for Wasabi.

He also starred in Jesy’s award-winning documentary Odd One Out.

But after 16 months together to two called it quits while isolating in separate homes because of the coronavirus lockdown.

A source told HOAR Online: “Jesy and Chris split up a couple of weeks ago. It was all very amicable and they’re still really good friends.

“Jesy rang Chris and led the conversation about their relationship and both agreed that it felt like it had run its course – they’re both absolutely fine.”

The Little Mix singer was pictured with the Our Girl star on a date at Roof East bar in London’s Stratford on Friday afternoon – as they met a friend for a meal.

An onlooker tells the Sun Online that the new couple couldn’t keep their hands off each other.

They said: “They seemed pretty loved up. They were hugging as they waited to go in and he had his arm round her and kissed her on the top of the head.

“They didn’t seem to be hiding it from anyone and looked like any new couple on a date.

“A mate joined them for drinks and food and the three of them appeared to be having a good time together.”

Meanwhile Chris has kept himself busy by helping vulnerable people during lockdown.

The kindhearted reality star teamed up with Mecca Bingo to distribute food to those who need it.
