His youngest brother Llŷr took his own life in July

He wrote: “You are never alone. There is always hope.

“Please reach out. People care. I care.”

Last month, Alex bravely opened up about Llŷr’s death in a moving interview on Lorraine.

Llŷr took his own life at the age of 20, having planned to follow in his big brother’s footsteps and become a doctor.

Alex begged followers suffering with their mental health to ‘reach out’

He shared this poignant message to Instagram

Alex told the host he would “never get over” the grief while speaking about the “tremendous guilt” he felt over not being able to protect him.

He said: “It’s been the toughest time of my life imaginable. It’s something as a family that we never expected.

“We were so excited for Llŷr to go to medical school. We were all looking forward to the future and the pandemic coming to an end.

“I was at a restaurant when I found out – eating with my friends. I had a phone call with my dad. I could tell something was wrong. I think the world came down.”

He added: “My life is before and after this. I’ll never get over it.”

Alex said he will never get over his little brother’s passing

“I felt tremendous guilt. I am his older brother, I’m supposed to protect him.”

Elliott ended up driving Alex home to Wales and he opened up about the toll it took on his own mental health.

Alex shared: “We sat in silence for five hours, crying and shouting and letting out this anguish. I went in different parts of my mind on that journey – dark parts.”

The dedicated star returned to his work in a hospital just three weeks after Llŷr’s passing, admitting that the tragedy had spurred him on to help as many other people as possible.
