LOVE Island’s Kem Cetinay says he and Piers Morgan are now great mates despite the Good Morning host once dismissing him and his co-stars as “brain dead”.

Piers branded Kem a “dimwit” back in 2017 and insisted he could never be pals with the Essex boy.

Kem Cetinay says his Soccer Aid equaliser brought him and Piers Morgan close

But the pair built bridges at Soccer Aid last June when Kem scored a stunning equaliser that led to a penalty shoot-out win for the World XI team, which Piers and Harry Redknapp were managing.

Kem said: “I really like Piers and I asked him before the game: ‘What have I got to do for us to be friends?’ and he replied: ‘You need to score a goal.’

“That’s why when I scored I ran over to him and gave him a big hug.

“We’re good friends now — I wouldn’t go so far as to say we had a bromance — I wish it was. I’ve got his phone number and probably no other Love Islander has.”

Piers hailed the win as the greatest night of his life. Kem added: “I would like to think it was me and my goal that gave Piers the best night of his life.”

Soccer Aid raises cash for Unicef and this year’s challenge, on June 6, will see Kem in a World XI team featuring Usain Bolt, Mo Gilligan, Patrice Evra, Jaap Stam and Roberto Carlos.

They face an England team of Danny Jones, Casey Stoney, Kelly Smith, Lee Mack, Tom Davis, Joel Dommett, Russell Howard and Olly Murs.

If Kem puts in the same top performance as last year, he’ll certainly win over even more pals this year.

Amy’s aiming high

HERE is Love Islander Amy Hart wearing a lot more fabric than anyone on the ITV2 hit usually manages.

The former air hostess was helping hand out gongs at the WhatsOnStage Awards over the weekend.

Guests at the bash included Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell and her boyfriend Joe Sugg. After dishing out trophies – as chosen by theatre-goers – Amy was eyeing another gig.

She posted online: “Thanks to everyone at @whatson stage for the opportunity  . . . apparently I did quite well so if you guys at the @olivierawards need anyone . . . ”

She’s more likely to be in the audience for that one.

FIONA Bruce has come up with the ultimate solution for not seeing her wrinkles – and it isn’t getting cosmetic enhancements.

The newsreader and host of Question Time and Antiques Roadshow told the Radio Times: “I haven’t done Botox, although there are a few women on screen who do.

Fiona Bruce says she hasn’t had Botox, instead she doesn’t watch herself on telly

“If you don’t do it, which I don’t, you look pretty rough by comparison, now that there is high-definition and ultra high-definition.

“Just don’t watch yourself back – that’s the way to do it.”

Dirty Joe socked it to Ben

JOE Swash tried to put Dancing On Ice co-star Ben Hanlin off his game by hiding smelly socks in the magician’s dressing room.

Ben was axed from the semi-finals on Sunday after losing to Paralympian Libby Clegg in the skate-off.

Ben said: “Joe would sneak into my dressing room and put his dirty socks on my radiator so when I came back it would stink of his smelly feet.”
Despite the prank, Ben will soon be working with the former EastEnders actor.

He revealed: “I’m going to be doing a podcast with Joe. It’s about us being dads.

“We haven’t managed to record anything yet but maybe after next week when he’s done with the show.”

Ben was nervous on Sunday night as a lift that had led his partner Carlotta Edwards to accidentally slice his forearm in rehearsals was kept in their routine – but it passed without incident.

He is now backing street dancer Perri Kiely to win on this weekend’s final.
