LOVE Island hopeful Shaughna Phillips has quit her job working for a London borough council in the hopes of finding fame on the ITV2 show.

The 25-year-old worked as democratic services officer for Lambeth Council but a spokesperson confirmed to The Sun Online that “Shaughna no longer works at Lambeth Council”.

They added: “However we wish her all the best, and good luck as a Love Island contestant.”

Fellow islander Mike Boateng has also quit his police officer job, with the 24 year old leaving his job with Greater Manchester Police before entering the Love Island villa.

In Mikes show intro, he boasted about being a cop and talks about kinky sex sessions wearing handcuffs.

“My name is Mike, I’m 24 years old and I’m a police officer from London, he says in the video.

Mike, 25, has also quit his steady job as a police officer

I’m lucky because of my job as a police officer,” he added

“I can use the cheeky lines about getting handcuffs out! It normally works.”

“Im chatty, funny and clever people wont expect it from me,” Shaughna explained. “When they hear me speak about certain things theyll be shocked.”

Viewers have been left fuming over the lack of normal people during this year’s line-up however, with many suggesting the show is simply now used by those looking for fame.

One annoyed fan suggested the show “needs to call it a day after this season”.

“Was good as far as the Chris and Kem season and even that wasnt great.

“Just a gaggle of fame hungry young people who dont actually care about finding love,” they claimed.

Another added: “LoveIsland has nothing to do with finding love, it’s just about finding fame and money” while a third shared that they were “so unimpressed by the @LoveIsland lineup, siblings & exes of celebs.”
