HUGO Hammond’s latest catchphrase left some viewers cringing – and others just plain confused.
The 24-year-old PE teacher repeatedly insisted he was going to “move mad” on the new Casa Amor Bombshells during Tuesday (27th July) night’s episode.
What does ‘moving mad’ mean?
‘Moving mad’ is a slang term to suggest that someone is acting out of character, or doing something unexpected.
Contestant Hugo Hammond has come under fire for his use of the expression on Tuesday’s episode (27th July), but he didn’t coin the phrase.
‘Moving mad’ is already a popular slang term, often used on Twitter.
It’s even been seen on Love Island before.
During season six of the show, contestant Mike Boateng was accused of ‘moving mad’ after he cracked on with several girls in the villa over the space of just a few days.

PE teacher Hugo repeatedly told viewers – and the other boys – that he planned to ‘move mad’ during his time in Casa Amor.
The boys are separated from the girls in the main villa, and six new girls have joined the show in the hopes of turning some heads.
As one of the only single boys, Hugo was keen to try and make a romantic connection with one of the Casa Amor bombshells.
And it seems he’s now found some success after setting his sights on 25-year-old performer Amy Day.
After several failed attempts at romance, Hugo shared a kiss with the newcomer, finally beginning his Love Island journey.
What did fans say about the phrase?
Fans weren’t impressed by Hugo’s newest catchphrase, with some rushing to social media to brand it “embarrassing”.
Others joked that they wanted to report the show to Ofcom, and that the well-spoken teacher was too middle class to use the term.
Other livid social media users, however, accused the 22-year-old of “cultural appropriation” and asked other viewers to report the islander to Ofcom.
“Hugo has just inspired a million middle class white kids to start telling everyone they’re ”moving mad” and he should be voted out for that”, one of them wrote.
Another added: “Hugo is not moving mad. Hugo is moving out. Rent is due. C’mon. #loveisland.”
Hugo started the series as a clear fan favourite, but it seems some viewers have run out of patience with the villa underdog.
The 24-year-old was criticised online after rejecting Sharon Gaffka and bombshell Andrea-Jane Bunker.
He then left fans furious after he described himself as a “player with options” last week (July 19th-25th), when new girls Abigail Rawlings and Georgia Townend entered the villa.
Hugo even rejected Georgia in the end, despite her saying that she had joined the show specifically to get to know him.
