Who is the host of Love Island 2023?

After successfully taking over the Love Island helm from Laura Whitmore, Maya Jama will return to our screens as the host.

Laura shocked Love Island fans when she quit the show in August 2022.

Laura began hosting the reality TV show ahead of the 2020 Winter series following the death of former host, Caroline Flack.

Maya was then as announced as the new presenter of Love Island in October 2022.

The winter 2023 edition of Love Island saw winners Sanam and Kai take the crown.

The next series promises to be just as exciting, with the announcement of the new singletons to enter the iconic villa.

What has Maya Jama said?

Maya’s rise to fame has been impressive, to say the least, with her work ethic helping her become one of Britain’s highly sought after stars.

Speaking to ITV about getting the Love Island job, she said: “It’s really, really exciting. It’s been a weird feeling because you find out and then it’s the wait and the build up.

Maya went on: “I’ve been a fan for years. It was the first reality show, other than Big Brother, that I made sure I was back at a certain time to watch and all my friends and family were speaking about.

“Everyone gets involved, everyone has opinions – from the older people in your family to the younger ones.

“It’s just fun, it’s fun to see how people play out in different situations and wonder what you would do if you were in the same position.

“Most of us have had a bit of a holiday romance before and it’s like watching that on telly.”

What other TV shows has Maya Jama hosted?

Maya has been unstoppable throughout her career, starting in radio, which she left in 2020 to focus on her burgeoning TV career.

She has presented and co-presented tv shows, award shows, and radio and shows no signs of slowing down.

Some of the TV shows Maya has presented include:

  • MOBO Awards – 2017 and 2020
  • Stand Up to Cancer – 2018
  • Bafta – 2020
  • Glow Up: Britains Next Make-Up Star: Series 3 and 4
  • The Brits Are Coming

Who else has hosted Love Island?

Since the revival of the show in 2015, there have been a few hosts of the hit TV show.

Caroline Flack hosted the show for five seasons until she passed away in 2020.

She was succeeded by Laura Whitmore, wife of Love Island narrator Iain Stirling, for seasons 6-8.

Her sudden exit from the show left the presenter spot up for grabs for a short while, speculation was rife as to who would bag the gig.

Bosses announced Maya Jama as the host of Love Island, a fact that was well received by Love Island fans everywhere.

Maya successfully hosted the winter 2023 edition of Love Island and will return as host for the summer 2023 instalment.
