THE majority of retailers have confirmed the days people will be able to shop in their stores this week.

Most shops and supermarkets will be closed for certain days in order to give staff some much-needed time off.

Opening hours in stores may vary over the UK national mourning period

Almost all stores across the UK are shut on Christmas Day, but there are also a handful of retailers that won’t open on Boxing Day either.

Christmas Day falls on a Sunday in 2022, which means there’s an extra bank holiday on the following Tuesday, December 27.

This is as well as the usual Boxing Day bank holiday on Monday, December 26.

There will also be an added bank holiday on January 2, 2023 due to New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday.

This means customers will need to plan their shopping trips carefully from Boxing Day to New Year’s Day.

Opening hours can vary from branch to branch, so check your local store times before you make the trip.

Most big retailers will have their opening times listed on their websites.
