BAKED beans and fish fingers are back on the menu, after experts admitted the items were wrongly demonised.

Blanket warnings about ultra-processed foods mean families have been urged to avoid products such as fruit yoghurt and pasta sauce.

The British Nutrition Foundation is trying to rehabilitate the image of six key staples including baked beans and fish fingers

But now the British Nutrition Foundation has launched a campaign to rehabilitate the image of six key staples, which also include sliced bread and wholegrain breakfast cereals.

The decision to classify the items as “healthier processed foods” is likely to lead to a surge in demand at the tills.

But you can save a packet on these essentials with our handy guide.
