DIY store B&Q is making a big change to its opening hours out of respect for the Queen’s funeral.

The longest-reigning British monarch died on Thursday at the age of 96, and she will be laid to rest on Monday, September 19.

B&Q is open over the bank holiday weekend

The day of the Queen’s funeral has been declared a Bank Holiday.

It’s up to individual businesses whether to open or close on the day, but many are choosing to close their doors in honour of the Queen.

We explain whether B&Q will be open on the day.

Is B&Q open over the September Bank Holiday?

B&Q is closing all of its stores on Monday, September 19.

A B&Q spokesperson said: “As a mark of respect for the State Funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and to offer our colleagues the opportunity to pay their respects, we have taken the decision to close all our UK stores on Monday 19 September.”

B&Q is usually open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.

On Sundays stores are typically open between 10am and 4pm.

You can check where your nearest B&Q is using the locator tool.

How can I find the opening hours for my local B&Q store?

The brand’s store finder also lists exact opening hours for your nearest store.

You can see when it is set to reopen on Tuesday.

Is B&Q delivering over the Bank Holiday weekend?

B&Q will be suspending click and collect services as well as deliveries over the September Bank Holiday.

Standard delivery costs £5, but it’s free for orders over £50.

Times for delivery services usually range from 3 days to 5 weeks.

For orders that are larger than parcel, the store offer a named day delivery service but the cost might go up to £10 depending on just how big all your new DIY gear is.
