PUBS can finally open again from next Saturday.
But with social distancing still in place and your local restricted in how many people they can admit, why not build your dream bar in the garden?
Here’s how you can nip out for a drink without leaving home . . .
BUILD IT: Upcycling is the easiest, cheapest way to build your own bar — all you need is three old wooden pallets and a large, flat piece of wood or plastic to go on top.
Position one pallet to be the front of the bar, then place the other two either side of the first as the bar’s flanks, and screw or drill together to make the structure sturdy. Finally, place the flat wood or plastic on top of the structure to form the surface where your drinks will stand.
BUY IT: If you do not have time to build the bar yourself, I have you covered — I found a reclaimed timber-wood bar for only £165 at etsy.com.
DECORATE IT: To get your backyard boozer ready for action, you will want to make it look the part. Why not decorate with some of your favourite plants? Bring out your favourite drinking glasses, too. String lights will look great — argos.co.uk has some great ones with pink and grey balls, currently reduced from £8 to £6.
STOCK IT: Now it is time to get in your chosen tipples. Echo Falls Summer Berries rosé wine is on offer for £3.75, down from £4.25, at tesco.com. Plus, get three boxes of selected beer for £21 at Asda, such as ten cans of Budweiser, ten cans of Fosters and 12 bottles of Heineken.
Stock up on tasty spirits, too. TW Kempton Watermelon & Lime gin is currently on offer for £10, down from £14, at tesco.com. Or keep it simple with a bottle of Bellucci Amaretto, £6.49 at Aldi.
ENJOY IT: Rattan loungers or sofas will create a modern, beach-bar vibe. Or use throw- cushions and blankets to decorate loungers you already have. I like the Pom Pom Blush Square cushion at Dunelm, now £12, down from £15. I also like the Joan Tufted Cushion Cover at laredoute.co.uk — now £14.30, down from £22, for a staple piece.
