MILLIONS of disabled people will get a one-off £150 cost of living payment paid straight into their bank accounts.

The payment is meant to help with the extra costs disabled people in particular often face, such as care and mobility needs.

Millions of disabled people will want to know the exact code to spot

More than six million people will get the tax-free cash between June 20 and July 4, the Department for Work and Pensions said.

You’ll be able to spot when the free cash lands as it will come with a special code.

This is because any transaction into or out of your bank account has something to identify where it’s from – like a shop name.

And it’s no different with the cash from the government.

You’ll be able to see when the money has landed in your bank account by looking for the words: DWP COL along with your National Insurance number.

For example, if your NI number is JT 83 42 97B your payment will show up as “DWP COL JT 83 42 97B” on your statement.

You have to be receiving certain benefits to qualify for the £150 cost of living payment. These are:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

A small number of people will see the £150 land in their accounts after July 4.

This will apply if you were awaiting confirmation of your eligibility for the qualifying benefits on April 1.

What other help is there?

The £150 comes as part of a bumper package of support announced by the Government including a £900 payment for millions on certain benefits including Universal Credit and a £150-£300 top-up for millions of pensioners.

The £900 payment has been split into three instalments worth £301, £300 and £299.

The first should have already been paid between April 25 and May 17 while the second and third will be paid in autumn 2023 and spring 2024.

The £150-£300 payment will be made to millions of pensioners from November.

The money will come as a top-up if you are eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment this year.

You qualify for this year’s Winter Fuel Payment if you were born before September 25, 1957.

You will be sent a letter in October or November telling you how much your Winter Fuel Payment will be.
