HOME-MADE Christmas cards are fun and cheap to create and a joy to get.

Here is some inspiration on how to craft your own festive creations . . .

For extra craft bits, Hobbycraft has reduced prices on select items

SPUD STAMPS: Try making your own Christmas stamps using old potatoes.

First make a flat edge by cutting a slice off the flattest part of the vegetable.

Use a small knife to mark out a shape, such as a star or a triangle.

Then remove the potato around the outside of the shape and experiment with colour paints to create patterns.

If you have a triangle, you can stamp it in green paint and print three times with each triangle on top of the other to create a Christmas tree shape.

SPECIAL PRINTS: If you have a baby or small child, you can use their hand or foot prints to make lovely homemade cards that double up as keepsakes.

Create an easy reindeer design by dipping the baby’s foot in brown paint and printing on the middle of the card.

When the print is dry, paint a red round nose on the heel of the foot and two eyes at the top.

Then paint antlers coming out around the toes.

Even easier, draw and colour in a green Christmas tree.

Little ones can dip their fingers in paint and use the prints to create baubles.

ART SUPPLIES: Save money and use material lying around at home for cards, such as scraps of wrapping paper or coloured envelopes.

Cut circles out of different festive paper, then stick it to your card in a ring shape to make a Christmas wreath design — this also works with pom poms.

For extra craft bits, Hobbycraft has reduced prices on select items, including a 12-pack of felt Christmas mittens down from £1.50 to 75p, and a 15-pack of gold mini bows down from £1 to 50p.

The retailer also sells a 50-pack of blank white cards and envelopes for £6.
