ONE of the best ways to bring people together at Christmas is a game or two.
After the year we’ve all had, a little fun is the perfect remedy.
These cheap and cheerful options will score highly with all members of the family.
Up for the cup: Beer pong always goes down a treat. In the game, players try to throw a ping-pong ball into one of several cups of beer at the end of a table. If a ball lands in a cup, the opponent has to drink the contents. The full rules can be found on Google.
But, there’s a way you can get the kids involved too. Instead of filling the cups with booze, place a jelly bean from a Bean Boozled pack, £2.10 at Tesco, into each cup.
The same rules apply but instead of downing a drink, your opponent has to eat the jelly bean — which could either be a nice fruity flavour, or a horrible flavour such as stinky socks. It’s jelly bean roulette!
Head start: Hedbanz is a great game, but it’s £10 at Argos. I quite like the free app version you can get on your mobile, called Heads Up!
It’s a similar game, but instead of using physical headbands showing items you have to guess the name of, you hold your phone to your head and pass it round as you play. It’s great fun for all the family. You also have the option to buy more games in the app.
Hot property: Playing Monopoly at Christmas is a must. Now, there are so many different versions of the game that you are spoilt for choice. They include Fortnite, Only Fools And Horses and even a Friends version. But if you are more traditional, you can buy the original game for £16.99, reduced from £22.99 at very.co.uk. Or, you could get the Christmas edition for £26.99, reduced from £34.99 at booghe.co.uk.
Squat’s this? Another game to encourage endless laughter is Sumo Squats. Imagine the classic fairground game of hook-a-duck, but this time you have a belt on and are trying to hook a model of a sumo wrestler from the ground. It’s hilarious. It was on sale for £12.99 at MenKind but I got it in a multipack of games from aldi.co.uk for £11.97. The pack also includes Twerk Pong and Floss Pong, which are highly recommended.
Deal of the day
THE Intempo Bluetooth ice bucket speaker is on offer for £19.99, down from £29.99 at robertdyas.co.uk. Perfect for those who miss the pub.
ICELAND has brought back its luxury Canadian whole cooked lobster for £6. I’ll shell out for it at that price – it’s a bargain.
RATHER than paying £1.50 for a pack of 12 frozen mozzarella sticks at Sainsbury’s, buy a pack of 12 at Asda for £1.
