HOUSE looking a little ravaged during the school holidays?
While little ones are loving the free time, mums and dads are often left chasing them around like headless chickens and trying to keep the house tidy.
But it needn’t be a chore — time is money after all.
Here are some of my handy hacks to help you keep the place in tip-top shape for less . . .
WALK IN THE PARK: A kickabout in the park only leads to one thing — grass stains.
According to Vanish.co.uk you can get those green stains out with Vanish Oxi Action Gel, which is currently on offer for £4, down from £8 at Wilko.
But, to save cash I like the Asda Stain Remover Oxy Pre-Wash spray for £1.43.
Just spray the stain as soon as possible on both sides and leave to work for five minutes, then wash as usual.
POWDER POWER: Whether you’ve taken a trip to the beach or you’ve got a sandpit in the garden, sand gets everywhere.
So before they bring in the entire beach, grab some talcum powder and chuck a load onto their sandy feet. This will help to dry out the wet sand making it so much easier to brush off.
My Little Star Baby Talcum Powder from Superdrug is £1.29, but if you buy two you’ll get the second half price.
END ON A HIGH: Cleaning high chairs and booster seats is grotty and time consuming, with food getting into all the nooks and crannies.
If you have a pressure washer, take a leaf out of Stacey Solomon’s book — she takes her son’s chair outside to jetwash it. It’s so easy and takes seconds.
One savvy mum even put her son’s booster seat into the dishwasher. It came out squeaky clean after fitting nicely on the bottom shelf.
SPARKLE AND SHINE: Arts and crafts are all fun and games until everywhere you look you see the glimmer of glitter — and you’ll wonder how on earth it got there.
If the kids are using glitter to add glam to artwork, find a tray for them to work in. It will minimise the amount that escapes.
You can easily pick up stray pieces with Play-Doh.
