They won exactly £46,209,384.50 share of the £138,628,153 jackpot.

Lottery operators Camelot confirmed the UK winner has come forward to claim the life-changing sum.

The winning numbers were 03, 08, 18, 34 and 49 while the lucky stars are 03 and 07.

Two other winning ticket holders – who will share the remainder of the jackpot – live in Switzerland and France.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said: “This is absolutely incredible news and we’re delighted that we’ve received a claim.

“Our focus is now on supporting the ticket-holder through the process and helping them start to enjoy their truly life-changing win.”

The lucky winner of the £46.2million prize is now richer Benedict Cumberbatch.

The actor who is famous for playing roles such as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series Sherlock and Stephen Hawking in the television film Hawking in 2004 has an estimated net worth of £30m.

With all National Lottery draws players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize if they have the winning ticket.

Back in February, one lucky Brit scooped up a £7.6 million jackpot on a single ticket.

Last year another lucky winner bagged one of the biggest prizes ever with £171m, making them richer than Coldplay’s Chris Martin.

Previous Brits who cashed in on the EuroMillions include New Year’s Day winners Frances and Patrick Connolly, from Northern Ireland.

They later revealed how they gave away more than half to help others out.

Also keen to help out friends and family was builder Steve Thomson after he and wife Lenka, from Selsey in West Sussex, won £105m in November 2019.
