Make smart use of your smartphone with the best apps to help you save cash

TIME is money – and I spend a lot of mine on my phone.

But when it comes to saving cash, using various apps can seriously help.

Use your phone to boost your bucks with these great apps

Today I explain how they can boost your bucks . . .

SOCIAL MEDIA SAVES: You can make money from watching your favourite viral videos.

New app Zynn is similar to TikTok and you can discover and create all sorts of clips. The difference is that Zynn pays users to sign up, watch videos and encourage others to do the same.

The time watching — which for me has been hours during lockdown — turns into points which can then be redeemed for gift cards or cashed in via PayPal.

It is free to download and you can find it on Google Play and the Apple App store.

IT ALL ADDS UP: One of the new features if you get a Monzo card and app is the clever “rounding up” system.

When you spend money, it rounds up the price to the nearest pound and puts the remainder in a separate “rainy day” pot.

For example, if I bought something for £1.70, it would make the spend £2 and put 30p in my rainy-day fund.

I’ve built up around £12 alone this week, which is a great little boost.

CHIPPING AWAY: The Plum and Chip apps both work in the same way, by reading your account spending then working out a percentage to “steal” and save for you.

It takes the hassle out of organising new direct debits.

Plum lets you invest your saving, too. But as always, read the small print first and check it is the right option for you.

SNAP HAPPY: HuYu can earn you extra rainy-day cash. Upload supermarket receipts or take short surveys to collect stars and when you reach 500, you get £5.

ENTER YOUR SUN SAVERS CODES: Members should keep banking theirs. But if you are not yet a Sun Saver, head to sunsavers.co.uk or download the free app and then start by entering the code from the panel below. Once you have entered 28 codes you will get a free fiver.
