I AM lucky enough to have a garden and it has been a real sanctuary in lockdown.
It is a place to relax, have a barbecue and enjoy a long-awaited catch-up in the sunshine with friends or family.
But come the evening, it can get chilly.
So how can you make your outside space perfect for relaxing all day and night?
I asked Jonny Brierley of outdoor firm Moda Furnishings for his tips . . .
FIRE STARTER: Jonny says: “The hottest new accessory is a fire pit.
“They keep you warm as the sun sets and temperatures drop but also act as a stylish focal point to create an ultra-cosy atmosphere.
“Make sure it’s lit before your guests arrive for a wow factor as they step into the garden.”
My tip: I love the square fire pit and BBQ grill for £49 at livingsocial.co.uk, down from £73.96.
Or for a cheaper option, try the Sol 72 outdoor steel fire pit from wayfair.co.uk for £22.99.
HOME SWEET HOME: Home is where the heart is . . . and our gardens too.
Jonny says: “People are applying the same interest they have in the design of their homes to the design of their gardens, introducing softer outdoor-use upholstery, lighting and accessories.”
My tip: Soft furnishings and textiles can easily create a chic and comfy space.
Think blankets, cushions and dainty string lights.
I like the teal zigzag blanket, £9.99 at aldi.co.uk.
And the set of nine geometric pattern cushion covers, £34.36 on lightinthebox.com, down from £66.52, will add even more colour to your outdoor space.
TWO-IN-ONE: Jonny says: “People are looking for versatile furniture.
“This is all wrapped up in the desire for multifunctionality.
“Items such as the rising table allow us to use a table for a morning coffee then elevate it for meals.”
My tip: The Multigot three-in-one wicker bar table on amazon.co.uk is a great option but costs £128.99.
Instead, get the similar Ibiza rattan-effect drinks cooler table, which is just £69.99 at azumaoutdoor.co.uk.
It will be great for your morning coffee . . . and keep your booze chilled in the evenings too.
Deal of day
ENJOY a tasty night in with a thin-and-crispy pepperoni or margherita pizza and a four-pack of Budweiser for a fiver at The Co-Op.
Cheap treat
FILL your fruit bowl with a pack of ripen-at-home nectarines, just 45p at Tesco instead of 95p.
