The ankle socks come with pom poms attached to them, but these could fall off and cause a choking hazard for the little ones.

The affected products come in blue, pink and white and were sold at Matalan between February 24 and August 24 this year.

They had product codes of C134573 or C134574.

Matalan hasn’t yet confirmed how much the socks cost nor how many it’s recalling, so we’ll update this article once we hear back.

If you’ve bought any of the socks, Matalan is urging customers not to use them.

Instead, you should return it to your nearest Matalan store where you’ll be given a full refund.

You don’t need to have the receipt to get your money back.

Matalan has more than 200 stores across the UK. You can find your nearest one by using its shop locator tool.

The retailer said no other items are affected by the product recall.

If you have any questions, you can contact Matalan’s customer service on 0333 0044444 or send an email to [email protected].

Matalan said in a statement on its website: “We wish to thank you for your co-operation and we once again apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

“We look forward to welcoming you back to Matalan soon.”

Other recent product recalls to watch out for include Greggs’ steak bakes sold in Iceland, which may contain pieces of plastic.
