Okay so I just got back from Nando's with sauce literally still under my fingernails. Not even sorry about it. Their new summer menu dropped this week and my god, they've actually outdone themselves this time.
I dragged my friend Mia along (she owes me after I helped her move apartments last month) and we basically ordered everything new on the menu. My wallet is crying but my taste buds are doing a happy dance.
That cheese burger though...
First up – The Big Cheese. Listen. This isn't just another halloumi burger. The combination of that grilled squeaky cheese with pineapple salsa hit me like a flavor truck. I'm usually skeptical about fruit in savory dishes (bad pizza experience of 2019 still haunts me), but this actually works.
The avocado slices were perfectly ripe too – not that sad brown mush you sometimes get.

And teh Churrasco PERinaise? I want to bathe in it. Too much? Whatever.
Halloumi sticks that made me question my life choices
I've probably eaten my body weight in regular Nando's halloumi sticks over the years, but these new ones with that PERi-Honey dip... damn. Sweet and spicy in a way that makes you keep dipping even when you're full. We ended up ordering a second portion and I'm not even remotely ashamed.
Worth every penny of the £4.95.
Wait, is this salad actually... good?
I never order salad at Nando's. Like, what's the point when chicken exists? But Mia insisted we try the Summer Grains thing.
Surprisingly didn't hate it. The dried apricots and chickpeas with that tangy yogurt dressing was actually refreshing between all the spicy stuff. Still wouldn't choose it over chicken, but it's a solid side option if you're pretending to be healthy while still demolishing a full platter of peri-peri wings.
Only £4.25 too.
Corn that'll make you forget your table manners
The Charred Corn is messy as hell but worth the embarrassment. Covered in this garlicky sauce and PERi-Salt that gets EVERYWHERE. My white t-shirt now has battle scars. Zero regrets.
Mia actually said, and I quote: "I'd fight someone for the last piece of this." Coming from a woman who once did a 10-day silent meditation retreat, that's saying something.
Quenching the fire
After setting our mouths on fire with extra hot sauce (bad decision after 2 glasses of wine), we desperately needed their new Tropical Quencher drink. At £4.25 it's not cheap for a non-alcoholic option, but it was exactly what we needed.
I tried to guess the flavors and failed miserably. Some kind of passion fruit situation happening? Whatever it was, it cooled the burn perfectly.
The sauce democracy we deserve
Before we left, our server Josh (who deserves a raise for putting up with our indecisiveness) told us about how they're letting customers vote on which limited-edition sauce should make a comeback. The Smoky Churrasco from 2022 was my jam – I literally bought bottles to keep at home until they ran out.
That Fanta collab sauce was... an experience. Not sure if it was good or just weird, but I definitely remember it.
I've already voted online. Democracy in action, people!
Oh, and they've finally made that secret PERi-Flamer sauce official. About time! I've been asking for it for years after seeing it on some Reddit thread back in 2021. The extra saucy wings with this stuff is what dreams are made of.
Aldi's trying to steal Nando's thunder (bless them)
Side note – did anyone try that Aldi dupe range they launched recently? I grabbed their halloumi sticks (£2.49) last week out of curiosity. They were... fine? Like, edible but definitely not the same. Their chicken was decent for the price though.
Let's be real. Sometimes you want the real deal, and sometimes you're broke and will settle for a decent approximation while watching Netflix in your pajamas.
If you make it to Nando's this week, get the Big Cheese and thank me later. Just wear something that can handle sauce splatter – you've been warned.

How To Build an Emergency Fund Effectively
Building an emergency fund is essential for financial security. Start by determining how much you need; a common recommendation is to save three to six months' worth of living expenses. Open a separate savings account to keep your emergency funds easily accessible but separate from your regular spending. Automate your savings by setting up a monthly transfer from your checking to your emergency fund. Initially, focus on small, manageable contributions, gradually increasing them as your budget allows. Avoid using this fund for non-emergencies, and replenish it after any withdrawals to maintain your financial safety net.
