Although small and physically weak, Bumblebee’s abilities as a messenger and spy – not to mention his tremendous bravery – have made him one of the most valuable Autobots. Friendly, kind-hearted and eager to please, his misplaced self-doubt can lead to risk-taking behaviour.

YOU’LL get change from buying this set of Transformers stamps — printed with special ink to reveal features under UV light.

Fans will also be able to watch clips from the original TV series when scanning the stamps with the Royal Mail app.

Autobots and Decepticons are in ’80s style and include favourites such as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron.

The release pays tribute to the British contribution to the robot franchise.

The designs were created by UK comic artists Andrew Wildman, Stephen Baskerville and John-Paul Bove.

The stamps have been printed with UV ink, which reveals each of the character’s faction logos and names in the Cybertronian alphabet when shone under UV light.

Collectors will also be able to watch a unique AR animation by scanning the stamps using the Royal Mail app.

Royal Mail’s Matt Parkes said that British writers and artists had made a “substantial” contribution to the Transformers franchise.

He said they “continue to do so and have inspired new artists to do the same”.

He added: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate their work with this stunning set of stamps – which calls back not only to the early comics but also – by using the Royal Mail App to trigger hidden content – the original cartoon series as well.”

The stamps go on general sale on September 1, with the presentation pack containing all 13 stamps priced at £17.50.
