Shoppers losing their minds over B&M's £5 garden steal (was £50!)

Holy cow. If you've been putting off getting a parasol because those stupid heavy bases cost a fortune, I've got news that'll make your day.

I popped into B&M yesterday (total accident - was actually looking for cheap plant pots) and spotted something that made me do a double-take so hard I nearly gave myself whiplash. Those chunky four-piece parasol bases that normally cost an arm and a leg? Scanning at FIVE QUID.

Is this some kind of pricing mistake?!

Nope. It's legit. These overhanging parasol bases were originally £50, then got marked down to £25 on the ticket... but they're actually ringing up at £5 at teh till. That's a ridiculous £45 saving off the original price!

Some lucky shopper spotted it first and shared it on Facebook with the message: "Run, don't walk! B&M scanning at a fiver. Was £50 originally, with a reduced to £25 ticket on it. Absolute bargain!"

People went nuts in the comments. One mum wrote she was "going straight there after nursery" while another was kicking themselves because they'd just paid £10 at Dunelm thinking THAT was a good deal. (Poor thing.)

Why you shouldn't wait

Listen. These are flying off shelves faster than ice cream melts in July. When I called my local store this morning, the guy actually laughed and said they'd sold out within hours of opening. Brutal.

Stock varies massively between stores, so definitely call ahead before you waste petrol. Nothing worse than that disappointed trudge back to the car empty-handed... been there in 2022 when they had those fire pit deals.

The competition doesn't even come close

I checked around because I'm that person who needs to know I'm getting the absolute best deal (my husband calls it obsessive, I call it smart shopping).

Amazon wants £33 for basically the same thing. B&Q? £34.99. The Range has them for £36.79.

There's a rumor Dunelm has them for £10, which still isn't close to B&M's insane £5 price tag.

I actually messaged my sister-in-law who just spent £40 on one last weekend. Her response: "I hate you for telling me this." Sorry not sorry!

More garden bargains that won't bankrupt you

B&M seems to be on some kind of mission to help us all have gorgeous gardens without remortgaging. I grabbed their Stone Effect Lawn Edging last week - pack of four down to £2.50 from £4.

And those Wave Lawn Edgings? Just £1.50!

My absolute favorite find was their Morocco Solar Powered Post Lights for £2. TWO POUNDS! B&Q sells something almost identical for £19.99. I bought six adn they've completely transformed my sad little patio.

The mirror trick designers don't want you knowing about

If you're working with a postage-stamp sized garden like me, grab their Arched Garden Mirror for £12. My friend paid £67 for basically the same thing from Dunelm back in March.

It's a designer secret - mirrors create this optical illusion that makes tiny spaces look twice the size. The white frame one looks way more expensive than it is.

Seriously though, with summer coming (allegedly... this is Britain after all), these deals won't hang around.

I'm heading back tomorrow to see what else I can find. My bank account is crying but my garden's never looked better.
