KOR-MA blimey! It’s national curry week and we all love an Indian takeaway.

But we spend a lot on them, an average of £340 a year. So if you want to save for Christmas, slice the price of spice now and boost your monthly budget instead . . .

Spice up your wallet with these takeaway deals to celebrate National Curry Week

DOOR TO DOOR DISCOUNT: If you fancy a curry from your local for a little less, Tastecard has launched its own delivery service to rival Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat — and members can get a permanent discount of at least ten per cent.

Plus, if you’re not already a member, you can enjoy a month for free (saving £4.99 for the month, plus your additional ten per cent off).

READY FOR LESS: If you’ve got to get dinner on the table fast, pop to Sainsbury’s to snap up one of their tasty premium Indian prepared meals.

There are even veggie versions of classics, such as the Jackfruit Biriyani for £4. You could also take advantage of Tesco’s Indian meal deal for two, £8 — which comes with enough Chicken Jalfrezi, Hot Chicken Tikka Masala, Pilau Rice, Bombay Potatoes and Naan Bread for two people.

SIDE DISH SAVVY: Ordering in? Skip the spendy sides and make your own or shop around.

A naan bread can cost around £1.50 each from your local curry house, but a pack of four Garlic and Coriander Mini Naans is currently on sale at Morrisons for £1.70.

Meanwhile, poppadoms are 55p each at my local takeaway, but it’s 75p for eight at Aldi.

DIY: Making a curry from scratch needn’t break the bank. At Tesco, get six chicken breasts for £3.50, add a Sharwood’s curry sauce for £1.25 and own-brand microwave pilau rice for 35p. That totals £5.10 and is enough for two, costing just £2.55 per person.

SAVING: £6.86 per person on that £9.41 each Chef Miguel Barclay also has a delicious sweet potato Katsu Curry recipe that costs just £1 per serving and tastes identical to Wagamama’s finest. See his YouTube channel.
