THREE major energy suppliers are paying out compensation worth £70 to thousands of customers.

E.ON Next, Good Energy and Octopus Energy have to pay out a total of £8million for delaying or failing to make compensation payments owed to customers.

The energy companies were due to make the compensation payments for not providing a final bill within six weeks of their customers switching to another provider.

It comes after the regulator Ofgem brought in new rules in May 2020.

This is the first time they have been used since being brought in.
