A-Level students are in uproar over their grades

What time is the GCSE and A-level results statement today?

Tory MPs and ministers have been told to expect an announcement on the exams shambles at 4pm today (August 17, 2020).

The PM is under pressure to u-turn and give kids teacher-predicted grades for A-levels and GCSEs.

Boris Johnson held a call with the Education Secretary and other senior officials.

Students will now be awaiting that all important announcement this afternoon.

Gavin Williamson will make an announcement at 4pm today (August 17)

What is Gavin Williamson expected to announce?

Whips have told Conservative MPs that a statement is being made by Gavin Williamson and Ofqual, in a bid to shore up discipline after multiple backbenchers and two ministers went public with their criticism.

It is thought the Education Secretary will set out changes to the exams assessment.

It follows widespread attacks from his colleagues, including frontbenchers and also students and their families.

MPs and ministers have hinted a u-turn will be on the cards – but it’s not yet clear how kids’ grades will be changed.

Will GCSE results be released on August 20?

GCSE students are set to receive their results on August 20 – despite them missing exam season.

However, results day could be delayed by as much as two weeks as top Tories are said to be urging Boris Johnson to postpone them amid the A-level algorithm results fiasco.

If all goes ahead, the results will be ready from 6am, but it is up to each school to set their own release time.
