THE BBC will end free TV licences for the over 75s from August 1, it was confirmed today.

The corporation decided to extend the free lifeline for millions of elderly Brits due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, where many were forced to stay at home.

And it was rumoured that it may be extended again until September.

But today the BBC confirmed it would start to charge people for the free licences from August 1 as planned.
