EMBATTLED Boris Johnson belted out Gloria Gaynor’s hit I Will Survive as vowed to defy the doubters and fight on.

New No10 comms chief Guto Harri revealed the PM serenaded him with the 1978 banger when he agreed to take on the job last week.

In an extraordinary interview published today Mr Harri also said BoJo was “not a complete clown”.

Ex-BBC journalist Mr Harri served as the PM’s media adviser when he was Mayor of London before becoming a political pundit.

He was briefly a presenter on GB News but left the channel shortly after causing controversy by taking the knee live on air.

Mr Johnson has now rehired him as Downing Street’s director of communications following a clear-out of top staff.

But on his first day in the job Mr Harri himself became the story after revealing BoJo convinced him to come aboard – by having a sing song in his No10 study.

He told Welsh outlet Golwg: “I walked in and did a salute and said ‘Prime Minister, Guto Harri reporting for duty’ and he stood up from behind his desk and started taking the salute but then he said ‘What am I doing, I should take the knee for you.’

“And we both laughed. Then I asked ‘Are you going to survive Boris? ‘And he said in his deep, slow and purposeful voice and started to sing a little while finishing the sentence and saying ‘I Will Survive’.

“I inevitably invited him to say ‘You’ve got all your life to live’ and he replied, ‘I’ve got all my love to give’, so we had a little blast from Gloria Gaynor!”

Asked about the exchange today, the PM laughed it off while his spokesman refused to comment on private conversations.

Mr Harri – who as a telly pundit has scolded the PM over Partygate – also gave a less than ringing endorsement of his new boss.

He added in the interview: “He’s not a complete clown, but he’s a very likeable character.”

Mr Harri was seen strolling into Downing Street today clutching a Tesco bag.

He told reporters he was taking healthy snacks and mineral water to No10 staff – a dig at the boozing culture the PM has vowed to rid.

Mr Johnson is battling to cling on despite a steady stream of Tory MPs calling for him to quit.

Fifteen backbenchers have so far broken ranks to publicly demand he resigns, nine of which have submitted a letter of no confidence.
